Welcome to Year 4!

Welcome to year 4! We are a vibrant class full of authors, scientists, artists, inventors, linguists and explorers.

Class teachers;

Mrs E. Smith (Monday - Thursday)

Miss L. Ryding (Friday)

Teaching assistants:

Miss Christie (Mornings)

Mrs Mills (Afternoons)

Our scientists will be exploring the topics of sound and electricity, whilst also diving into the fascinating events of World War II as they become historians. In English, we’re excited to be studying 'Journey' by Aaron Becker, which will support our artists in creating their own sequence of images to tell a story. Alongside this, we’ll continue developing our skills in maths, practise our Spanish, and stay active with hockey in PE.

Expectations:

Spellings are tested every Wednesday, with a new set issued each week. Our class is full of budding writers and regular spelling practice helps to build confidence and fluency.

Reading at least four times a week at home will support our explorers in all areas of their school and home life. Please prioritise finding time to read with your children.

Times tables are important for developing fluency for our mathematicians and supporting them to practise these at home will make a huge impact. Year 4 is a big year for times tables so this will also be a large focus in the classroom.

Our athletes will have PE on Wednesdays and this term they will be learning how to play hockey.

Let's make this year productive, fun and successful!

Thank you for your support,

Mrs Smith and Miss Ryding
